    Pre Birth Team

    £24 – £30 per hour

    Duties:

    Assessment: Conducting thorough assessments of expectant mother’s situations, including their living conditions, support networks, mental health, and any risk factors that could impact the well-being of the unborn child.

    Support and Counselling: Providing emotional support and counselling to expectant mothers, addressing their concerns, fears, and any challenges they may be facing related to pregnancy, parenting, or personal circumstances.

    Referrals: Connecting expectant mothers with relevant support services and resources, such as prenatal care, health care providers, housing assistance, substance abuse treatment programs, mental health services, and parenting classes.

    Safety Planning: Collaborating with expectant mothers to develop safety plans to address any risks or concerns related to their living situations or relationships, ensuring the safety of both the mother and the unborn child.

    Advocacy: Advocating for the rights and best interests of the unborn child, ensuring that their needs are prioritised and addressed, and advocating for expectant mothers to receive the support and services they require.

    Coordination: Coordinating with other professionals and agencies involved in the care of expectant mothers and their families, such as health care providers, child protective services, mental health professionals, and community organisations.

    Monitoring and Follow-up: Monitoring the progress of expectant mothers and their situations over time, conducting regular check-ins, and providing ongoing support and assistance as needed.

    Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining detailed records of interactions with expectant mothers, assessments, referrals, and any interventions or services provided. Additionally, if there are concerns about the safety or well-being of the unborn child, pre-birth social workers are mandated reporters and must report such concerns to the appropriate authorities.

    Education and Prevention: Providing education to expectant mothers about healthy pregnancy practices, child development, parenting skills, and strategies for preventing child abuse or neglect.
